About
Hong Kong bank rate comparison calculator
TrueCash HK is a Hong Kong bank rate comparison calculator. Type an amount and compare sample cash, personal-loan, and mortgage rates from banks in Hong Kong. This site is not an earn-money TrueCash app, and it is not truecash.io.
Not an earn-money app
Other products use the TrueCash name, including earn-money apps and truecash.io. This site only compares Hong Kong bank rates and runs the calculators. It pays no rewards, it takes no application, and it does not give financial advice.
Why this exists
HKD, USD, and CNY cash ads often pay the high rate on the first slice only. The rest drops to a thin base, and payroll or new money may be required. Treating the headline as the rate on the whole pile is an easy way to overestimate.
How true yield is counted
A year of interest is the promo band times the headline rate, plus the leftover times the base rate. Blended yield is that interest divided by the balance. With no cap, the headline rate covers every dollar.
- Promo band = the smaller of the balance and the cap
- Annual interest = promo band × headline + leftover × base
- Blended yield = annual interest ÷ balance
One sample
Park HK$200,000 in the sample livi bank liviSave. The promo covers the first HK$100,000 at 3.80%. The rest earns the 0.01% base. A year of interest is about HK$3,810.00, which is 1.91% on the whole balance. The 3.80% headline describes the promo band.
What this page leaves out
Tiers inside the cap, monthly crediting, fees, tax, foreign exchange, and the chance the promo ends next month are all left out. The rank assumes you qualify for the row. If you do not, that row is not your rate.
These figures are samples
The file marks this set as a sample. It was last reviewed on 10 Oct 2026. Use it to practise the comparison, and check the bank before you treat any row as a quote.
How rates get refreshed
Cash rates live in data/rates.json, personal loans in data/loans.json, and mortgages in data/mortgages.json. Names and notes exist in Chinese and English. Interface copy lives in messages/zh-HK.json and messages/en.json. Change that file’s reviewed date in the same edit.
Loans and mortgages
The same comparison covers borrowing. Personal loans rank by true APR and by total interest plus fees. Mortgages use the frozen HIBOR and prime in the file, then show a monthly payment and a first-year cost. Both pages compare and illustrate. They do not take an application and they do not choose for you.
Who it is for
People parking Hong Kong dollars, US dollars, or renminbi, who want the headline after the cap is taken off. Check the bank before you move money.
